Who we are
Windham Summit Bible Church is a Fellowship of Believers who desire to see Our Heavenly Father glorified in our community.
In 1858, with a desire to establish a place of worship, some of the areas’ settlers established the church that continues to be a place of worship today.
Guided by the foundational truths of God’s Holy Word we are committed to Evangelism and Discipleship.
What we Believe…
A. The Scriptures: We believe in the divine, authoritive, and verbal inspiration of the Bible, the Word of God.
The Bible is God’s revelation to man, inerrant in the original writing, and that it is therefore the supreme and final authority in all matters of doctrine, faith, and practice.
Luke 1:70; Hebrews 1: 1-2; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2Peter 1: 20-21
B. The Godhead: We believe in the One Triune God, eternally existent in three persons.
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The three members of the Godhead share the sameattributes and nature and are omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient.
Deuteronomy 6:4; 2Corinthians 13, 14; Psalm 139: 7-10; 1John 3:20; Matthew 19:26; Revelation 1:8
C. Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ was fully God, fully man, and lived a sinless life.
We believe that Jesus Christ ever existed with the Father and the Holy Spirit and that in His incarnation was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man without sin.
Matthew 1: 18-23; John 1: 1-2; Hebrews 4:15.
D. Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same Nature.
We believe that He was active in the creation. That in His relationship to the unbelieving world, He restrains the Devil until God’s purpose has been fulfilled; that he communicates the truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony; that He convicts of sin and judgment; that he reassures the believer of righteousness; that He is the agent in the new birth; and that He indwells, baptizes into the Body of Christ, seals the believer’s salvation, guides, teaches, sanctifies, and helps the believer.
1Corinthians 12: 4-11; 2Corinthians 12:12; Ephesians 4: 7-12; Genesis 1:1-3; John 14: 16-17; John 16: 8-15; Acts 1:8; 1Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 5:16
E. Salvation: We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace through faith minus works.
The Son of God by divine appointment of the Father, freely took upon Himself our sin, yet without sin, and honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and by His death and shed blood made a full and complete payment of our sins thereby restoring our relationship with God; that His death as the redemptive work was a voluntary substitute of Himself, in the sinners place, the Just dying for the unjust; Christ the Lord bearing our sins in His own body on the cross. His resurrection accomplished our justification
